EMM-Check 4.2.5.0

Please find information about the latest changes since the previous release of EMM-Check.

Basic Functions
  • Logical Components
    Logical components can be used in driver mode and VR-mode to interact with the geometry. Logical components are switches, buttons, sliders and knobs, which are available from a catalog can be inserted into the model structure.
    The components can be combined with objects such as controls, sequences or animations in order to control them.



    In driver mode, the logical components can be operated with the mouse. In VR-mode, the HTC Vive's controllers can be used to interact with the logical components.



  • New AddOn: Assistant for user-defined working lights



    With the new AddOn "User-defined Working Lights" it is now possible to create user-defined working lights and used them in EMM-Check.
    For this purpose, the ies-file of the respective working light that contains it's light output and distribution is required. In an editor the-ies file and the components of the working light can be loaded and positioned. After creating the working light, it can be used e. g. over the network to share it with all EMM-Check users within the company.



    A new chapter for user-defined working lights has been added to the catalog.

  • New function: User-defined forks



    With the new assistant for defining user-defined forks, custom forks can be prepared for the use in EMM-Check. Therefore the 3D model of the fork is loaded and positioned. The assistant then automatically recognizes the contour of the surface to be checked on the fork. The contour can be modified if needed. After the final definition of the meta-data, the fork will be exported. It can be used over the network to provide it to all EMM-Check users within the company.
    A new chapter for user-defined fork has been added to the forks catalog.

  • Support of planar generic mirrors
    Two planar generic mirrors have been implemented. A round and a angular mirror that are parameterized. The size or radius can be adjusted in the properties of the mirror glass.
    The images for the generic mirror in the catalog have been updated.

  • Statistics
    On a tree node of a standard a statistic can be displayed showing information of the last analysis (start time, end time, duration, result). It is available when using the function Properties in the contextual menu.
    This works also on the node Standards. Then a statistic showning information for all loaded standards will be shown.

  • New chapter in report: Assembled Components
    In the new chapter Assembled Components all mirrors, cameras, monitors, working lights, forks, tes loads and logical components will be listed including their parameters. This will also show the parameters of generic components (like mirrors or cameras) in the report.

  • Enhanced News-Dialog
    The dialog for displaying the new features in EMM-Check and the company news has been updated. It now offers a better structure and a better navigation. All messages are displayed in a tree structure grouped by versions and can be displayed with a double-click.
    Images can now also be included in company messages. To do this, the following tag must be used for images located in the file system:

  • Copy & Paste in the positioning dialog
    Two new functions are available in the dialogs Move & Rotate and Move Origin. The function Copy allows to copy the translation and rotation values from the dialog into the clipboard. The function Paste can be used to paste the previously copied values into the dialog.



  • Driver Mode
    The opening angle of the view can now be adjusted when in driver mode by using the Shift + Cursor Keys up/down.

  • Space Mouse
    EMM-Check now supports the SpaceMouse Pro, SpaceMouse Enterprise and the Space Navigator by 3Dconnexion.

  • New components in the catalogs
    We added a new working light by HELLA to the working light catalog:
    - HELLA Flat Beam 1000

  • Contextual Menu
    The functions Merge and Properties of models are now available on component nodes that do not include models as direct children. The functions appear in the menu as long as at least one model is located somewhere in the sub-structure of the selected component.

  • User-Settings
    • A new tab called Report exists in the user-settings panel. Here specific report settings can be set.



    • A new setting has been introduced to control the depth of the model structure printed in the report. It can be found on the tab Report in user setting panel.



    • A new option has been introduced on the tab General in the user settings panel. The option Confirm merge controls whether a confirmation message will be displayed when merging components.



    • New option for controlling the colors of loaded stl-models has been introduced on the tab Import/Export. Models can now be loaded with random colors (Option "Color"), with grayscale colors (Option "Grayscale") or with a single color (Option "Single Color").



    • A new option on the tab Logging controls the period of time that log files will be kept. After this period of time, the files will automatically be deleted.



  • Standards
    • Deactivated components like mirrors or cameras will not by taken into account anymore during an analysis.

  • Other Enhancements
    • When replacing a model, a warning will now be displayed when the scaling factor for the import is not set to 1.

    • The process of measuring the shortest distance between two components can now be canceled.

    • A new function for displaying the components attached to a measurement has been implemented in the contextual menu of a measure: Select Component(s)

    • Auxiliary geometry like Planes, Boxes, Lines and Points can now be copied.
    • A new shortcut for activating and deactivating components has been introduced: Ctrl + A

    • The list of nodelocked licenses in the licensing dialog has been updated and show information about the existing licenses more clear.



HTC Vive & REKNOW VR-Cluster
  • HTC Vive-Mode & VR-Cluster
    • A new function for creating screenshots has been implemented in the VR-Menu. After the function has been selected in the menu on the left HTC Vive controlelr, the user looks in the desired direction and pulls the trigger on the right HTC Vive Controller. The screenshot will then be saved in the directory defined in the user settings (refer tab Screenshot). In the user setting it can also be defined to take a screenshot using both eyes or just the left or right eye.

    • The names of all participants in a VR-Session using the REKNOW VR-Cluster are now displayed above the heads of the avatars.

  • Update of the algorithm for aligning the filament
    • The algorithm for aligning the filament perpendicular to the geometry has been updated. Up to now it only took into account all geometry inside the RB. This was never a problem. Only if the RB position is modified in a way that it is inside the geometry (by using the RB-offsets, project data), the filament was not aligned correctly.
      Now all geometry will be taken into account for the alignment of the filament.

  • Update of standard
    • Modifying the opening angles of the generic camera or the parameters (curvature, size) of a generic mirror did not lead to an update flag on the standard node in the tree structure (yellow exclamation mark). This has been fixed.
    • The movement of mirrors and cameras that were declared as "no obstacle" did not lead to an update flag on the standard node in the tree structure (yellow exclamation mark). This has been fixed.

StVZO, ISO 5721-1
  • Movement of light sources in addition tests
    • The movement of the light sources in the additional tests has been updated after a survey with all EMM-Check users that use the StVZO ยง35b Abs.2 Rili 11 or the ISO 5721-1. It has been updated as follows:
      The movement of the light sources will now be performed with a constant distance of 65mm.
      The pair of light sources will be moved by 50mm, 100mm or 170mm depending of the selected additional test measured from the center of the filament to the center between the two light sources. The outermost position of a light source on each side is then max. 202.5mm (when using 170mm movement).



      Due to this change the results will be a little bit different in future. The resulting maskings will be a bit smaller that in the past. This makes it a little easier to fulfill the requirements of the two standards.
      We would like to say THANK YOU to all customers that participated our survey and gave us excellent feedback.

    • The merging of maskings according to chapter 2.1.1.2 (StVZO) / 5.1.2 section 4 (ISO 5721-1) has been updated. Maskings that are close together and do not exceed 600mm / 700mm when merged including the space in between, can be merged.
      Depending on the number and the size of the maskings this can lead to different evaluation scenarios. Therefore EMM-Check now creates a variant for each possible merging and evaluates them separately. If one variant fulfills the standard's requirements, the standard will be counted as passed in general. All variants will be listed in the results dialog and the report.

  • Enhancement in report
    • All components declared as "vertical" will now be displayed in the report on a separate screenshot.
ISO 5006:2017
  • ISO 5006:2017
    • The required reflection height of a test object in a mirror will now be computed automatically based on the height of the test object. The following table shows some values for the test object and the corresponding required reflection height:

    • The test body for analyzing the required reflection height in a mirror can now only be moved in x- and y-direction and rotated over the z-axis. It also can be scaled in x-direction (width).

20th of April 2018, EMM-Check Release 4.2.6.0
On 20th of April 2018 the version 4.2.6.0 of EMM-Check was released. This version will contain many enhanced and new functions as well as modifications in some of the standards. For details click here.

1st of September 2017, New office opened!
REKNOW was able to grow continuously over the past years due to increasing revenues from EMM-Check. This success shows up in the opening of an additional office in Hamburg. The new office provides space for new colleagues and can be used for presentations to our customers.
